2. Lalbag Fort: A. At 17th century incomplete fort. Khan Mohammad Mridha’s Mosque Erected in 1706, this Mughal structure is stylistically similar to Lalbag Fort, built on a raised platform, up a flight of 25 steps. 8. Ahsan Manjil; About 550m west of Sadarghat River port Ahsan Manzil was the official residential palace of the Dhaka Nawab Family. This magnificent building is situated at Kumartoli along the banks of the Buriganga River in Dhaka, Bangladesh. It is at old Dhaka. The other name of this historical place is called Pink place. About from 1872, Ahsan Manjil was built on the site of an old French factory by Nawab Abdul Gani, the city’s wealthiest landowner. Some 16 years after its construction, it was damaged by a tornado, and reconstructed again altering massively and became even grander than before. It is the most magnificent architectural monument in Bangladesh. It is now a museum which preserves the culture and history of Nawab’s of Dhaka. The government of Bangladesh recognizing the historical and architectural importance of the Ahsan Manzil, took some events to refurbish it in 1985 and its surroundings were acquired and completion of the renovation work in 1992, open for visitors. The Bangladesh Liberation War Museum: Liberation War Museum is institutional member of American Association of Museums. It is registered with NGO Bureau in Bangladesh. It is at Mirpur North West end of the city adjacent to the botanical garden. It is the national zoo under the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock. It was established in 1964 and moved from the previous location to Mirpur in 1974. It occupies an area of about 75 hectares. It has two lakes of about 14 hectares which receive thousands of waterfowls every year in winter. We might see there birds, reptiles , and about 100+ aquarium fishes, 15 tigers, Royal Bengal tigers of the Sundarbans, lions, hippopotamus, a huge amount of monkeys, near half hundred pythons. rare animals the rhea, peacock, black bear , zebra, elephant, African grey parrot, baboon, water buck, impala, emus, , chimpanzee, Gayle, , tapir, mandrill, and estuarine crocodile, monkeys provide additional entertainment to the visitors. Except Sunday the zoo remains open on other weekdays from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm (October-March) and from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm (April-September). It also remains opens to the visitors for certain hours during government holidays. There is an information centre at the entrance. The visitors can seek any necessary information there. This is located at Wari old Dhaka , once upon at time which was the area for the rich people. Baldha Garden: The philanthropic naturalist landlord of the Baldah estate, Narendra Narayan Roy Chaudhury, established a miniature botanical garden in Narinda, near Christian Cemetery, having a rich and rare collection of plants from 50 countries in 1909. It took more than three decades to give a full shape to this garden. The garden housed about 15,000 plants covering more than 600 species of around 335 genera belonging to 87 families. Among those, the famous Baobab plant (Adansonia digitata) was collected from Africa and adapted in this garden. There are the famous camellias that inspired poet Rabindranath Tagore to compose his famous poem 'Camelia' during his visit to this garden in late 1920s. The garden is divided into two parts, Psyche and Cybele. Most attraction is sun clock. There is a house only for Aloe plants. It is vary nice looking at morning. The unique plants, climbing Ivy (Fichus ripens var. heterophylla) and Papyrus (Cyprus papyrus), the Egyptian paper plant was collected and planted here. The lotus tank housed the famous Amajan lotus (Victoria regia) and blue nymphets. The famous pond, Sankhanidhi and the Sundial are located in the Cybele part of the garden. It remains open from 9-12 am and 3-5 pm. Ticket price for individual is Tk.5/- only.
